How to connect a Passport 9500ix to Detector Tools
using VMWare Fusion for the Mac

The following instructions are a workaround for Mac users with VMWare2:

  2. Double click on your Hard Drive Icon

  3. Double click the "Users" folder

  4. Double click the "(Your name here)" folder

  5. Double click the "Documents" folder

  6. Double click the "Virtual Machines" folder

  7. When you see your specific Virtual Machine, right click and select, "Show package Contents"

  8. Right click on the file with the .VMX extension. Choose open, using open with->other and then choose "Text Edit" from the list

  9. Add the following line to the bottom of this file
  10. usb.generic.allowHID="TRUE"

  11. Save the file by selecting, "file" then "save"
  12. Quit "Text Edit"
  13. Start VMWare Fusion

  14. Start your Virtual Machine - using the USB cable, connect your powered up detector to your USB port. After a few seconds you will see a couple of rectangles added to the "VMWare taskbar" on the bottom right side of the screen

  15. "Hover" the mouse over these rectangles until you see "Connect your Cygnal Integrated Passport 9500ix" to this virtual machine - left click

  16. Left click again to select

  17. You will be shown a message that states "This VM is trying to claim "Cygnal Integrated Passport 9500ix" - click "ok"

  18. You are now ready to use your 9500ix and Escort Detector Tools with your Mac
