I like having the LED lights of my radar detector closer to my peripheral vision so that I can catch them better even if my radio is a little loud to cover up the audio warnings of radar ahead. So I have always preferred to have my unit mounted on my visor so that the flashing lights catch my eye quicker and I can slow down.

This visor mount does a great job of holding my Solo cordless detector to the visor where some cheaply made clips I have tried using in the past did not work as well. No matter how rough the road the detector did not move around and stayed firmly in place.
