Each and every year 41 million US drivers get slapped with tickets that average out at $150, resulting in a staggering $6 billion windfall for local governments throughout the land. And it seems that not even the most careful of drivers can escape being part of this big business, as the National Motorist Association estimates that one third of all the tickets issued, are issued in error. If all this weren’t depressing enough for US drivers, a single ticket can result in insurance hikes of, on average, $900 over three years.
