New York, NY September 14, 2011 -- ESCORT Inc, the leading manufacturer of premium automotive electronic accessories and maker of the world's best radar and laser
detectors, will be presenting their latest products at the 2011 PEPCOM Holiday Spectacular! Press event on Wednesday, September 14th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at New York
City's Metropolitan Pavilion.
ESCORT will be featuring several new products along with the world's first, and only, radar detector with full GPS NAV, the PASSPORT iQ™. The PASSPORT iQ™
establishes the standard for protecting consumers from unwanted tickets and guiding them safely to their destination. ESCORT's presence at the PEPCOM event will offer
media attendees the opportunity to experience first-hand the world's first and only driving accessory that integrates the premium mobile electronics technologies of
radar/laser detection, GPS navigation, important driving information, such as speed traps and speed limit data, in a single, compact device.
Assuming the form of contemporary GPS personal navigation devices, the new PASSPORT iQ™ is framed in landscape profile with a large 5-inch full-color touchscreen.
ESCORT engineers were able to change the standard radar detector form by designing a radically new microwave antenna assembly that allows the PASSPORT iQ™ to
accommodate and combine radar detection and GPS navigation technologies into one, easy-to-use device. "With our innovative product engineering and our strong patent
portfolio, we are the only manufacturer able to provide drivers the opportunity to combine the key technologies of radar and laser protection, GPS navigation and important
driving information in a single package," said Dave Smidebush, ESCORT Vice President of Marketing.
"We are excited about having the opportunity to demonstrate to important media writers how the PASSPORT iQ™ provides the convergence of state-of-the art
radar and laser detection, red light and speed camera notifications, speed limit information, GPS navigation and more," said Ron Gividen, ESCORT PR/Media Director.
"In addition to demonstrating the PASSPORT iQ™, we will also have several new windshield mount radar detector models on display for press for the first time
since their early fall release," he added.
Recently, ESCORT announced the release of its all new PASSPORT 8500ci Plus™ custom installed radar/laser detector. The new PASSPORT 8500ci Plus™ includes
ESCORT's test-winning Defender Database™ for red light and speed camera protection. "The 8500ci Plus™ offers great value, unmatched in the industry by all
other remote systems," said Gividen. "Detailed information reported by the discreet in-vehicle display reassures drivers that they are being protected with a
superior radar and laser defense system."
The new PASSPORT 8500ci Plus™ is comprehensive yet easy to install. The ambient sealed radar/laser detector is designed for under-hood mounting behind the grille
while the display controller discreetly mounts in the cockpit of the car. Physically separating the major system components into remotely installed modules creates a
system that simultaneously delivers industry leading radar/laser performance and protection while completely eliminating visible brackets, suction cups and cords.
The PASSPORT 8500ci Plus™ custom installed radar detector features test-winning long range performance against all guns and all modes of radar and laser used
today. Additionally, the new PASSPORT 8500ci Plus™ goes beyond all competitors by incorporating ESCORT's patented GPS based TrueLock™ technology to manually
lock out false alerts with the touch of a button. "The PASSPORT 8500ci Plus™ enhances radar and laser protection by using our patented TrueLock™
technology which allows drivers to manually lock out false alerts, a benefit not available in competitor products. And the new 8500ci Plus™ provides timely warnings
with accurate locations of red light and speed cameras and major speed traps, again benefits not available anywhere else," said Smidebush.
Also recently announced is the release of ESCORT's new PASSPORT 8500 X50™ BLACK windshield mount radar and laser detector. The new PASSPORT 8500 X50™ BLACK
features significant performance improvements over the current 8500 X50 models and is dressed in a sophisticated black case. The PASSPORT 8500 X50™ BLACK radar/laser
detector builds on the strong foundation established by the original 8500 series radar detector released more than a decade ago. Upon its introduction, the original 8500
radar detector was immediately called 'the world's best' by industry and consumer electronics pundits. And the recent 8500 X50 series has been repeatedly named by many 3rd
party reviewers as still, the 'world's best'. "Our new PASSPORT 8500 X50™ Black delivers an outstanding 40% performance improvement over its predecessor,"
said Gividen. "The PASSPORT 8500 X50™ Black offers drivers the best performance at the best value in class-leading radar and laser protection."
