Allison H It seems everywhere I go on my travels the police are using a different form of radar and I was really having problems finding a radar detection system that could keep me out of trouble. I purchased a Porsche Cayenne for traveling in the mountains out west and it handles so well that I love to open it up on the mountain roads.
I was running a Passport 9500i Blue but kept running into laser guns on the road. Since I could use the ZR4 with my 9500i they ended up being the perfect pair for me. After getting the ZR4 installed I have yet to be pulled over again!! Of course I did not install it myself since it looked too complicated for me, so I cannot review how hard that is.
But the performance has been great, the only complaint I would have is the amount of money I have invested in radar detection, but than that is better than court costs any day.
Jeff Klegle I had read raving reviews for the ZR3 when I was shopping around for a laser
detection unit so when I heard the ZR4 was out and was actually an
improvement on the 3 I decided to just go for it and get the newer model
despite the lack of reviews on the net at the time.
I am more than happy with my decision on this. Not only did the ZR4 install into my car so well that you can hardly tell it's there, it also does a spectacular job of handling the laser radar that is used in my area. Where I live, both the county and highway guys use laser and can get you from extremely long distances and even real close range with quick bursts. The ZR4 has done a great job of keeping me out of trouble whether I am going 5 over or more than I want to admit over.
Jerry Lee I'm in Houston, TX with four million people and lots of traffic light cameras and many laser speed guns in use. My wife is a real estate agent so she is frequently driving on streets or freeways she does not travel on a frequent basis. I purchased the 9500ix and the ZR4 for her, hopeing to eliminate the occasional ticket she was getting. I mounted the 9500ix at the lower left corner of the windshield and put a soft baseball cap over it so it is barely visible to the driver. I fabricated a metal mounting bracket to facilitate mounting in that location. I spent quite a bit of time thinking about the ZR4 installation before I actually installed it. I'm a perfectionist and I eventually installed it in my usual "aircraft standards" methods. She has been using both for about six weeks now and is a vocal advocate of the two products. She thinks I'm a genius for buying and installing these for her. Naturally, I agree with her.
