What is included with the iX?
The iX comes complete with a soft-sided travel case, NEW magnet "Sticky Cup" windshield mount feature, 12-volt SmartCord® and quick reference guide. If you would like a more permanent installation for your iX, check out the DirectWire SmartCord® or the more basic DirectWire kit for hardwired installations.
What is AutoLearn?
Autolearn uses the GPS feature to identify sources of false radar and memorizes location and frequency of each radar signal. Our AutoLearn software then compares signals received over time and eliminates audio alerts for non-police sources. The display will identify that a signal is present but no audio alert will be sounded. If a new source of radar or laser appears in the area you will receive a full audio and visual alert.
Will AutoLearn block out true police signals?
No. The sophisticated software will prevent automatically blocking out true police signals.
What is the Defender database?
Defender is a database of North American red light and fixed speed camera locations that can be updated weekly from our site. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
What is the USB port for?
The iX is web ready and the USB port can connect to a PC for software downloads and Defender updates.
What is Variable Speed Sensitivity?
We recognize if you are driving at slower rates of speed that you do not need full sensitivity. The iX is able to increase sensitivity as your traveling speed increases.
Can it be used overseas?
We do not monitor frequencies used overseas, but many customers travel abroad with their PASSPORT.
How do you Mark a location?
To mark a particular location, press the "MRK" button. The display will read: "Mark?" Press the "MRK" button again to assign a label to it. There are four (4) labels: Red Light, Speed Camera, Speed Trap and Other. To scroll through the labels, simply press the volume (+) or (-) buttons until you reach the desired label. Once you've selected the label, press the "MRK" button again to confirm.
How do you block a false alert?
To lockout a false alert, (X, K or Laser only) press the mute button three (3) times, (either on the detector or the SmartCord®) during the alert. Pressing the mute button the first time will silence the audio. Pressing it a second time will generate a prompt on the display that will read: "Lockout?" Press it a third time to confirm that you want to lock this signal out by location and frequency. A "Stored" message will be displayed.
What is Expert Mode?
Expert Mode will show you up to 8 radar signals at the same time and will show relative signal strength and associated Band of each signal.
Where are they illegal?
Radar detectors are completely legal to use in non-commercial vehicles in 49 states. Virginia and Washington D.C. are the only places in the United States that currently ban radar detectors. Radar detector use in commercial vehicles has been prohibited in the U.S. since 1995 and radar detectors are also illegal in most Canadian provinces. We do not track detector regulations in other countries.
What is the warranty period?
All our products ordered factory direct come with a full one-year factory warranty. We also offer an Extended Service Plan on select models that will provide two additional years of warranty for $29.95.
I have GPS in my car. Why do I need it in my detector?
The GPS feature is not used for navigation. The iX allows you to Mark locations of interest, Block false radar and laser alerts, tracks vehicle speed in real-time, and allows sensitivity based on the vehicle speed.
Why do I have to pay for updates?
Due to the increasing use of red light and fixed speed cameras in the US, the locations and operation status of these devices change all the time. This database is collected from a number of sources. There is a very small annual charge for customers that want to keep the Defender database current for camera threats. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
What is the Defender Database memory capability in the iX? Will it run out of space?
The iX has more than enough memory to hold all your locations as well as the camera locations used in the US.

I ordered this IX to replace my 9500 IX. I noticed right away the K bands were not alerting as much. This started me worrying if the IX was working. Then the Ka band went off coming to work, 3.25 miles later I passed the stationary trooper. Range fantastic, so I guess the filters for K band on doors is better. Who ever designed the mount my hats off, best mount in the business, no vibration, easy on and off. I did own the V1 and yes the mount was great but Escort out did themselves this time. Glad I bought the IX. At the present I own a Escort 360, IX and the 9500 IX. Thanks

This is a good detector in nearly every way. However, I had two incidents over the weekend that concerned me. The detector was showing a very weak Ka warning, one bar. However, the officer was visible and I could see him clearly with the radar gun. It wasn't until I was directly in front of him that the detector displayed full signal strength. The first time that happened I wrote it off. The second time I was unable to see the officer. The detector fluctuated between one and two bars of Ka band detected. It wasn't until I was literally 20 yards away from the radar gun that the detector started showing full bars. After that, I had enough. I think it is possible my detector was faulty so I have returned it and decided to upgrade to the Max 360.

I HAVE OWNED THE ESCORT IX SINCE MAY 2016

By Dave Cole

from Las Vegas, Nevada

Comments about New ESCORT IX:

I purchased the Escort IX for a new second truck. I have owned a second detector, the 9500 IX since March of 2010. The Escort IX was a disappointment after owning the 9500 IX, which I consider stellar, consistently dependable, and a great travel companion. NOT that the Escort IX is not a fine detector. I do not see that much of a difference between the two. If you are an owner of the 9500 IX, KEEP IT. I seem to favor the 9500 IX. When I air travel and rent transportation, the 9500 IX goes with.
I take up to 6 road trips or more a year, so I am able to get a good comparison between the two detectors. Re the Escort IX CONS: OLED Display is tiny and not bright at max setting. Difficult to see daytime no matter color background selected. I receive MANY Laser alerts, Seemingly false (?), Receive MANY K Band alerts. Not so many X Band. VOICE ALERT LACKS VOLUME at max setting. Escort IX PROS: EXCELLENT SUPERIOR RANGE. Like the live MPH Display. Otherwise performs very similarly to the 9500 IX. I tend to prefer the architecture of the 9500 IX compared to the new Escort IX. A more stealth look and much larger, brighter, easier to see screen. The LEDs are red. Not sure about the direct attachment to the windshield. I purchased a removable platform mount for both rigs that is easily stored out of view when publicly parked, not in use. The older platform is better, heavier than the present platform for sale. I have not subscribed to the Defender Database. I do not regret the purchase of the Escort IX, but favor the little brother 9500 IX.

Not What I Expected

By Macmad

from Winston-Salem, NC

Comments about New ESCORT IX:

Got my new IX for Christmas to replace my IQ. Been using it for a week now and am very disappointed. The new magnetic mount is useless. It keeps falling off the mount every time a pull into my driveway over the slight curb and when crossing train tracks. The bad thing is that it is hard wired and pulls the wire from behind the head liner. Going to tie wrap it to the mount to keep it from falling off. Another thing that is lacking is the App as each time you turn the car off to run into a store the App will not reconnect automatically. Why does every one think that their product has to have an App to operate. The App has to alway have location services on and phone battery life is shorten. This is not a product that i believe is the quality that Escort puts out. I have a 9500 in my other car and it is properly the best product of all detector i have every owned. The IX is no more than a detector since the App is useless and i do not need any more Apps on my phone. If looking for a good detector, i do recommend Escort as they are the best detector but not the IX. Hopefully Escort will get the issues resolved. Also, look at the reviews of the App in your App Store and you can see it is rated overall at 3 stares.

Several Months Later...

By Vic

from Washington, D.C.

Comments about New ESCORT IX:

I've used this product for several months as an upgrade from the previous 9500ix (blue). I will say that the range and accuracy are similar to the original 9500ix, so not much of an upgrade there. I've had a few times where I've passed a stationary cop, and the IX only had two bars KA band as I was passing him, not sure what that is about. That said, I've been saved multiple times with this thing and rarely run into false alerts. The database and gps logging are still the best feature, and with the ability to change the colors and tones on this radar, it's a welcomed upgrade after 4 years of using the original. The bluetooth connection to the app seems to be much faster too and I never have any hiccups in connecting to my phone. Still waiting on that Mac application functionality though.. Kind of a pain to have to use my wife's Windows laptop, just to get the full functionality of the software.

Sneaked up on me...

By Foosa

from Boston area

Comments about New ESCORT IX:

I have used this detector (the iX) and my trusted 9500 on my daily commute to work, in addition to longer trips. I will admit that I was not pleased with the iX when I went to set it up in my two cars, a Ford Mustang V6, and my Subaru Outback. At first the windshield mount looked huge compared to the two cups and a piece of metal that I have been using for years. But that has become less of a problem as I look past the mount and ignore it. I ran the iX and 9500i side by side on errands one weekend and they were very close in my area on alerts. Where the iX pulls ahead in my book is in learning and eventually blocking "false" signals. I have come to appreciate the new windshield mount with the magnet which makes removal easy. As well as not having to hunt down the bracket on the car floor in the dark. I will be traveling a long distance over the 2016 holidays and will see how the iX shakes out then overall. Right now I feel it will at least equal the 9500i in performance. I also recommend you add the extra warranty time for piece of mind.

New Escort iX is Awesome !!

By Z06 Owner

from San Diego, CA

Comments about New ESCORT IX:

I live in CA where this is quite a bit of traffic, convenient stores, automatic alarms and door openers that can cause false alarms. I researched for quite a while and landed on the new Escort iX. The iX magnet mount is strong and I personally love it. Set up is very intuitive and easy to use although I have not used the Escort Live. I have it set at bright and the display is very good 90% of the time. I commute 140 miles a day, about 50/50 - highway/city and I drive the same roads daily. I set the Escort iX at "Auto-low-K" just to make sure I lower the risk of the K band collision sensors on the new cars. The first day I will say the detector was going crazy with X, K bands alerting continuously to the point of me wanting to turn off the X band, but I wanted to do a real world test so I left it on. Within the first 3 days of my commute, to my surprise, the X, K band false alarms started to vanish. One by one, I would hear one high pitch beep and "Stored" on the display. The GPS was doing its job and turning off the false alarms to the point of where I now have a very quiet, if not silent radar detector. I tried the manual push button "marking" of a false alarm and it worked fine, locking out that location. The band will still show up on your display but it will be "grayed out" and silent. I have encountered Ka & LASER and both alerted strong. I do not have any collision sensor alerts and drive next to these cars daily. Detector does run very warm to hot but it is a phenomenal detector. I'm extremely happy and highly recommended the new iX.

This is my 3rd review of this product.

By Stephen B

Comments about New ESCORT IX:

First of all, I have owned this for a little over a month now. Today when I hooked it up to my IPone, I got a message my subscription message says it had expired???? So it no longer works with my IPHONE and the GPS within the APT. They want me to pay $4.99 a month or $49.00 a year for this to work on my IPHONE. The GPS system on the ESCORT APT tells you each street your driving on the speed limit. Now this has stopped working. I thought this service was FREE !!!!! When I paid the price for this, I expect more. Not let me move on to their service/delivery comments section.
