PASSPORT 9500ix

Artificial Intelligence Protection

AutoLearn uses our patented GPS technology to automatically "learn" (by exact location and frequency) each radar signal and determines if it's a real threat. The result is the most accurate long-range protection in the industry and a permanent solution to false alarms. You drive. It learns. End of story. Nothing could be easier.

Compatible With ESCORT Live!

PASSPORT 9500ix is compatible with ESCORT Live, our award-winning app and exclusive real-time ticket-protection network, which warns you of upcoming alerts received and reported by other users in the area, and gives you access to local speed limit data for over-speed alerts.

Optional SmartCord® Live for $39.95 with detector purchase. Download the app for free.

SpeedAlert™

The PASSPORT 9500ix radar detector provides all the information you need to make an intelligent decision during each and every alert. The radar or laser band, signal strength, and now your vehicle speed are displayed during an alert to help you make the best possible decision.

Traffic Sensor Rejection

The PASSPORT 9500ix includes our proprietary Traffic Sensor Rejection (TSR) software to eliminate false alerts.

DEFENDER® Database

We've addressed the increasing number of "safety" cameras installed throughout the U.S. and Canada, by shipping each 9500ix pre-loaded with thousands of red light and fixed-position speed cameras stored in its memory. As you approach these locations, the 9500ix will alert you in advance, you can even add your own "hot spots" using our exclusive Mark Location feature.

web ready icon

Web Ready

Simply go online to download our Detector Tools program, connect the 9500ix to either a PC or Mac with an active internet connection and then download the most up to date locations. You can even back up your data or update the detector's operating software, (firmware), if needed. The database is updated weekly, and Escort provides 90 days of downloadable updates for free.

speed sensitivity icon

Variable Speed Sensitivity

Our patented GPS technology allows the detector to provide alerts based on what the vehicle is actually doing. At highway speeds you need the best long range sensitivity you can get. At slower speeds, the sensitivity can be adjusted to further reduce unneeded alerts, especially when you're not at risk. We've even changed the actual alert to a short double-tone when your vehicle is moving less than 20 mph.

What is the difference between the red and blue display?
There is no difference in the performance or features. Some customers prefer the brilliant blue display, and others prefer the traditional red display.
What is included with the ix?
The Passport 9500ix comes complete with a travel case, quick release window mount, coiled SmartCord®, Quick Reference Guide, a 90 day free trial period for weekly Defender updates, one year warranty and 30 day money back trial period.
Athermic windshields may impact performance.
"Athermic" windshields have a metallic coating which will severely impact a radar detector's performance. Most have small areas to mount detectors and GPS nav units. GPS signals will also be blocked by this coating.
What is AutoLearn?
Autolearn uses the GPS feature to identify sources of false radar and memorizes location and frequency of each radar signal. Our AutoLearn software then compares signals received over time and eliminates audio alerts for non-police sources. The display will identify that a signal is present but no audio alert will be sounded. If a new source of radar or laser appears in the area you will receive a full audio and visual alert.
Will AutoLearn block out true police signals?
No. The sophisticated software will prevent automatically blocking out true police signals.
What is the Defender database?
Defender is a database of North American red light and fixed speed camera locations that can be updated weekly from our site. After the 90 day trial period a subscription is required to keep the Passport's Defender database current. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
What is the USB port for?
The Passport 9500ix is web ready and the USB port can connect to a PC for software downloads and Defender updates.
Is it the most sensitive model available? vs. Redline, vs. X50, vs. iQ
The Redline is the most sensitive dash model available on the market but it does not have the GPS features of the Passport 9500ix. The Passport 8500 X50 Black, the Passport iQ and the Passport 9500ix have similar radar and laser performance, but again, the 8500 X50 does not include the GPS features. The Passport iQ combines radar/laser detection and a full GPS navigation system in one convenient model.
What is Variable Speed Sensitivity?
We recognize if you are driving at slower rates of speed that you do not need full sensitivity. The Passport 9500ix is able to increase sensitivity as your traveling speed increases.
Can it be used overseas?
We do not monitor frequencies used overseas, but many customers travel abroad with their PASSPORT.
How do you Mark a location?
To mark a particular location, press the "MRK" button. The display will read: "Mark?" Press the "MRK" button again to assign a label to it. There are four (4) labels: Red Light, Speed Camera, Speed Trap and Other. To scroll through the labels, simply press the volume (+) or (-) buttons until you reach the desired label. Once you've selected the label, press the "MRK" button again to confirm.
How do you block a false alert?
To lockout a false alert, (X, K or Laser only) press the mute button three (3) times, (either on the detector or the SmartCord®) during the alert. Pressing the mute button the first time will silence the audio. Pressing it a second time will generate a prompt on the display that will read: "Lockout?" Press it a third time to confirm that you want to lock this signal out by location and frequency. A "Stored" message will be displayed.
What is Expert Mode?
Expert Mode will show you up to 8 radar signals at the same time and will show relative signal strength and associated Band of each signal.
Where are they illegal?
Radar detectors are completely legal to use in non-commercial vehicles in 49 states. Virginia and Washington D.C. are the only places in the United States that currently ban radar detectors. Radar detector use in commercial vehicles has been prohibited in the U.S. since 1995 and radar detectors are also illegal in most Canadian provinces. We do not track detector regulations in other countries.
What is the warranty period?
All our products ordered factory direct come with a full one-year factory warranty. We also offer an Extended Service Plan on select models that will provide two additional years of warranty for $29.95.
I have GPS in my car. Why do I need it in my detector?
The GPS feature is not used for navigation. The Passport 9500ix allows you to Mark locations of interest, Block false radar and laser alerts, tracks vehicle speed in real-time, and allows sensitivity based on the vehicle speed.
Why do I have to pay for updates?
Due to the increasing use of red light and fixed speed cameras in the US, the locations and operation status of these devices change all the time. This database is collected from a number of sources. There is a very small annual charge for customers that want to keep the Defender database current for camera threats. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
What is the Defender Database memory capability in the 9500ix? Will it run out of space?
The Passport 9500ix has more than enough memory to hold all your locations as well as the camera locations used in the US.

There is only one thing better than my 9500ix, and that's Escort's customer service and tech support. I'm tech savvy, and have never come across such a perfect support staff.

My 9500ix is now three years old and works perfectly. Never a hiccup. It's saved me thousands of dollars in tickets and insurance bumps, and made me an even safer driver.

One fallacy about radar/laser detectors is that people driver faster when they are installed. Not true! They make you a safer driver. Plus, you are much more aware on the road.

I live in NYC, and red light cameras have proliferated beyond imagination. Their presence is under the guise of safety, when it's really a sleazy money-grab by mismanaged municipalities. Not only are red light cameras unsafe, but are dangerous. People know where many are, and stop short at yellow lights.

I just took a trip around New England, about 2,000 roundtrip miles. I would have to say that my 9500ix saved me from receiving 6 speeding tickets.

Excellent Detector - Great Update System... however
I purchased the $30.00 Super Cup for my new 9500ix- the suction cup stem stretched, and then broke OFF the mount... maybe a bad one so I buy another Super Cup... this is one's suction cup is now stretched, and ready to snap.
I just called Customer Support. After a $60.00 investment, time and frustration; the most she offered was free shipping ($5.00) for another $30.00 "special mount"- ie. a Sticky Mount.

I'm sorry, that's NOT standing behind your product.

Escort hasn't made a good product since they quit building them in metal cases. That has been since the original Passport.

Comments about Escort Passport 9500ix Blue:

I have used this deter for about 4 years. I've updated it 1 time by connecting it to a computer. But it was unnecessary in my opinion. I have not gotten one single ticket in that time. I've traveled from Indiana to Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and all the way to Florida and even flew to Cali and used it out there while on vacation. This 9500ix is the best hands down. It picks up multiple signals, count downs at stop lights with the cameras on top and it picks up lazar when they use them. It still works just fine. I've used it in my Ram, wife's Lexus, Rental Cadillac's, Vans and now a large SUV. Works in Cities, rural, highways and anywhere else I've taken it. 5 stars for everything. Hands down number one in my book.

Comments about Escort Passport 9500ix Blue:

I have had this radar detector for 3 years. It was great for the first year but now it has become worthless. Ever since I purchased my Dodge Durango it gives false laser alerts just about every time I accelerate. I have called Escort multiple times regarding fixes and all they tell me is that their engineers are working on it. If the engineers were truly working on a fix I would hope they could come up with a solution within 2 years.

I've had my 9500ix for about 3 years now. I get the advertisements for Escort's latest detector, but haven't bought the latest and greatest just yet. I'm sure I will though since though since I have countless saves using my Escort. Although you always need to be careful and aware of laser and instant on Ka, driving with my 9500ix gives me a definite advantage. That's where the Waze app becomes the perfect partner! Using both tools, you give yourself a HUGE advantage over sneaky speed traps. I never drive without both on.

Drive 90 miles a day commute to work, 80% of the route is hilly straight road a speeders paradise! In the 4 months I have had the 9500ix it has saved me over 20 times plus saved other commuters itchy to pass me. I also have a few who now follow me to work in the mornings as they figured out I have a detector. I highly recommended to anyone with a long commute daily on roads easily easy to speed up without noticing.

I have two of these, one in blue and the other in red. The red is easier to see in daylight and at night. Mounting is now better with the new "sticky cups" but even they loose their grip after a while, especially in the sun. There are still some false positives even in "Auto No X" but far fewer than the detector I had before these.

Thought that this detector would pick up all radar signals but unfortunately I was quite wrong. I was clocked in traffic on a california highway & got a hefty speeding ticket. The detector never went off at all. I wasn't going over a hill, or around a corner, it was on a straight flat strip of road. Very unhappy I spent a nice chunk of money on this detector & now going to spend a nice chunk of money on the ticket.
