Artificial Intelligence Protection

AutoLearn uses our patented GPS technology to automatically "learn" (by exact location and frequency) each radar signal and determines if it's a real threat. The result is the most accurate long-range protection in the industry and a permanent solution to false alarms. You drive. It learns. End of story. Nothing could be easier.

Compatible With ESCORT Live!

PASSPORT 9500ix is compatible with ESCORT Live, our award-winning app and exclusive real-time ticket-protection network, which warns you of upcoming alerts received and reported by other users in the area, and gives you access to local speed limit data for over-speed alerts.

Optional SmartCord® Live for $39.95 with detector purchase. Download the app for free.

SpeedAlert™

The PASSPORT 9500ix radar detector provides all the information you need to make an intelligent decision during each and every alert. The radar or laser band, signal strength, and now your vehicle speed are displayed during an alert to help you make the best possible decision.

Traffic Sensor Rejection

The PASSPORT 9500ix includes our proprietary Traffic Sensor Rejection (TSR) software to eliminate false alerts.

DEFENDER® Database

We've addressed the increasing number of "safety" cameras installed throughout the U.S. and Canada, by shipping each 9500ix pre-loaded with thousands of red light and fixed-position speed cameras stored in its memory. As you approach these locations, the 9500ix will alert you in advance, you can even add your own "hot spots" using our exclusive Mark Location feature.

web ready icon

Web Ready

Simply go online to download our Detector Tools program, connect the 9500ix to either a PC or Mac with an active internet connection and then download the most up to date locations. You can even back up your data or update the detector's operating software, (firmware), if needed. The database is updated weekly, and Escort provides 90 days of downloadable updates for free.

speed sensitivity icon

Variable Speed Sensitivity

Our patented GPS technology allows the detector to provide alerts based on what the vehicle is actually doing. At highway speeds you need the best long range sensitivity you can get. At slower speeds, the sensitivity can be adjusted to further reduce unneeded alerts, especially when you're not at risk. We've even changed the actual alert to a short double-tone when your vehicle is moving less than 20 mph.

What is the difference between the red and blue display?
There is no difference in the performance or features. Some customers prefer the brilliant blue display, and others prefer the traditional red display.
What is included with the ix?
The Passport 9500ix comes complete with a travel case, quick release window mount, coiled SmartCord®, Quick Reference Guide, a 90 day free trial period for weekly Defender updates, one year warranty and 30 day money back trial period.
What is AutoLearn?
Autolearn uses the GPS feature to identify sources of false radar and memorizes location and frequency of each radar signal. Our AutoLearn software then compares signals received over time and eliminates audio alerts for non-police sources. The display will identify that a signal is present but no audio alert will be sounded. If a new source of radar or laser appears in the area you will receive a full audio and visual alert.
Will AutoLearn block out true police signals?
No. The sophisticated software will prevent automatically blocking out true police signals.
What is the Defender database?
Defender is a database of North American red light and fixed speed camera locations that can be updated weekly from our site. After the 90 day trial period a subscription is required to keep the Passport's Defender database current. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
What is the USB port for?
The Passport 9500ix is web ready and the USB port can connect to a PC for software downloads and Defender updates.
Is it the most sensitive model available? vs. Redline, vs. X50, vs. iQ
The Redline is the most sensitive dash model available on the market but it does not have the GPS features of the Passport 9500ix. The Passport 8500 X50 Black, the Passport iQ and the Passport 9500ix have similar radar and laser performance, but again, the 8500 X50 does not include the GPS features. The Passport iQ combines radar/laser detection and a full GPS navigation system in one convenient model.
What is Variable Speed Sensitivity?
We recognize if you are driving at slower rates of speed that you do not need full sensitivity. The Passport 9500ix is able to increase sensitivity as your traveling speed increases.
Can it be used overseas?
We do not monitor frequencies used overseas, but many customers travel abroad with their PASSPORT.
How do you Mark a location?
To mark a particular location, press the "MRK" button. The display will read: "Mark?" Press the "MRK" button again to assign a label to it. There are four (4) labels: Red Light, Speed Camera, Speed Trap and Other. To scroll through the labels, simply press the volume (+) or (-) buttons until you reach the desired label. Once you've selected the label, press the "MRK" button again to confirm.
How do you block a false alert?
To lockout a false alert, (X, K or Laser only) press the mute button three (3) times, (either on the detector or the SmartCord®) during the alert. Pressing the mute button the first time will silence the audio. Pressing it a second time will generate a prompt on the display that will read: "Lockout?" Press it a third time to confirm that you want to lock this signal out by location and frequency. A "Stored" message will be displayed.
What is Expert Mode?
Expert Mode will show you up to 8 radar signals at the same time and will show relative signal strength and associated Band of each signal.
Where are they illegal?
Radar detectors are completely legal to use in non-commercial vehicles in 49 states. Virginia and Washington D.C. are the only places in the United States that currently ban radar detectors. Radar detector use in commercial vehicles has been prohibited in the U.S. since 1995 and radar detectors are also illegal in most Canadian provinces. We do not track detector regulations in other countries.
What is the warranty period?
All our products ordered factory direct come with a full one-year factory warranty. We also offer an Extended Service Plan on select models that will provide two additional years of warranty for $29.95.
I have GPS in my car. Why do I need it in my detector?
The GPS feature is not used for navigation. The Passport 9500ix allows you to Mark locations of interest, Block false radar and laser alerts, tracks vehicle speed in real-time, and allows sensitivity based on the vehicle speed.
Why do I have to pay for updates?
Due to the increasing use of red light and fixed speed cameras in the US, the locations and operation status of these devices change all the time. This database is collected from a number of sources. There is a very small annual charge for customers that want to keep the Defender database current for camera threats. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
What is the Defender Database memory capability in the 9500ix? Will it run out of space?
The Passport 9500ix has more than enough memory to hold all your locations as well as the camera locations used in the US.

I had been a V1 user since its debut in 1994, but had been using it less and less because of its extreme propensity to false. It came to the point that I began ignoring alerts because it falsed so much.

When the 9500ix came out in 2009 I decided to order one and try it out during the 30 day trial period. At first I thought the thing was defective it was so quiet. However, after taking it on a long grueling twelve hour trip I discovered that was not the case. It has exceptional range on K band and both Ka bands used in my state and as far as I can tell I get the same range as my V1, just without the falses. Off axis is excellent. Once I was on the Parkway and picked up radar the rangers were running a good ways back. When I finally came upon the source it was between two sharp curves and they were parked down a side road. That really impressed me.

The auto and manual lock outs work great and as advertised.

Great unit for city use and easy to understand. It really needs to be souped-up like the Redline with Band segmentation and RDR selectivity to give it that extra oomph against other units. I do like the fact that it has RLC/Spped cam capability and this is great for city use. BUT for pure highway performance, it really need band segs and RDR.

Comments about Escort Passport 9500ix Blue:

I bought my 9500ix way back in May 2010. Not until Jan 2016 did I do it's first update for Firmware and Defender database (forgot to register it when I bought it). I gave it to my Wife a few years ago, and she loved it (still does) and after it's first update, it's even Quieter in town where she does most of her driving. She's really impressed with it, especially when she comes across the "your speed is" signs around town, it stays quiet after it learns it's a false alarm and locks out those signals. The 9500ix also has Great range, picking up LEO's 1.5-3 miles away in the city and 2-5 in the open highway. We take various road trips away from deep south Texas (to CA, AZ and FL), and this unit has saved us many, many times. I can't imagine having anything else with us, except maybe the New MAX 360, which i'd like to try. I highly recommend using this for everyday city or highway driving. You won't be disappointed!!

Comments about Escort Passport 9500ix Blue:

I received this radar detector as a holiday gift because I have always wanted one. On my very first highway drive I came around a bend and the trooper got me. No warning whatsoever. Unfortunately, I felt untouchable with my new radar detector but sadly I was wrong. When I called customer service to question its accuracy, they told me that around bends and on hills it's not very reliable. What's the use of having a detector in that case? I would love to return it if possible.

My brother got a Max 360 and the S3 and ask me to test, The S3 was dead and to be returned. The max 360 likes: the display and Bluetooth for my smartphone. Dislike: the large size, many false X alarms, cost.
I have 2 9500ixs. the 9500 is as sensitive as the 360. Both work with my VR1 Lazar shiftier and smartphone. Buy the 9500ix and save yourself the money. I've been a customer since the mid 80's with Cincinnati Micro.

Comments about Escort Passport 9500ix Blue:

This is my second one of this model. I have hard-wire mounted them in my last 8 vehicles! I highly suggest you buy the smart cord as it has a mute button. A good installer can retro-fit the smart cord so it to be mounted in your dash and be used as a permanent remote mute button. I simply place the mute button near my hand so i can quickly mute false signals. Its so much easier than fumbling for the detector and taking your hand far off the steering wheel. Also, the smart cord has lights, so you tend to notice it easier & faster when its visually well placed. Finally, I feel naked when driving cars w/o a passport!

Have used this detector on my road trips, in Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and it has saved my bacon on numerous occasions. Yes it is annoying when the alarm sounds, but when you eventually pass the speed trap, it is appreciated. That means it senses the trap, long before I see it, and I am continually looking for them. This unit is easy to use, and has never let me down. I have difficulty trusting some thing like this, but have become a believer. I'm seriously considering upgrading to the new Max360, and using this one in my commuter car, with the Max for my road car.

I drive 75% interstate & 25% city. Seems to be better at earlier detection on Interstate driving. Have some difficulty seeing the blue LED w/sunglasses on. Found it interesting in KY they have orange barrels for road construction that trigger this detector.

Overall very pleased with this unit for the price paid. I also bought the rear view mirror mount & using as well. Would have preferred a straight power cord versus coiled.

Comments about Escort Passport 9500ix Blue:

I very much enjoy the 9500iX, my fourth now, for four different cars. I particularly like the auto-learn feature using the internal GPS. My preferred method of mounting in the car is to hardwire to a ignition enabled 12v circuit then clip to the sun visor. However, I would have gone with the latest Technology, the Max, if it was available with the visor clip.
