Artificial Intelligence Protection

AutoLearn uses our patented GPS technology to automatically "learn" (by exact location and frequency) each radar signal and determines if it's a real threat. The result is the most accurate long-range protection in the industry and a permanent solution to false alarms. You drive. It learns. End of story. Nothing could be easier.

Compatible With ESCORT Live!

PASSPORT 9500ix is compatible with ESCORT Live, our award-winning app and exclusive real-time ticket-protection network, which warns you of upcoming alerts received and reported by other users in the area, and gives you access to local speed limit data for over-speed alerts.

Optional SmartCord® Live for $39.95 with detector purchase. Download the app for free.

SpeedAlert™

The PASSPORT 9500ix radar detector provides all the information you need to make an intelligent decision during each and every alert. The radar or laser band, signal strength, and now your vehicle speed are displayed during an alert to help you make the best possible decision.

Traffic Sensor Rejection

The PASSPORT 9500ix includes our proprietary Traffic Sensor Rejection (TSR) software to eliminate false alerts.

DEFENDER® Database

We've addressed the increasing number of "safety" cameras installed throughout the U.S. and Canada, by shipping each 9500ix pre-loaded with thousands of red light and fixed-position speed cameras stored in its memory. As you approach these locations, the 9500ix will alert you in advance, you can even add your own "hot spots" using our exclusive Mark Location feature.

web ready icon

Web Ready

Simply go online to download our Detector Tools program, connect the 9500ix to either a PC or Mac with an active internet connection and then download the most up to date locations. You can even back up your data or update the detector's operating software, (firmware), if needed. The database is updated weekly, and Escort provides 90 days of downloadable updates for free.

speed sensitivity icon

Variable Speed Sensitivity

Our patented GPS technology allows the detector to provide alerts based on what the vehicle is actually doing. At highway speeds you need the best long range sensitivity you can get. At slower speeds, the sensitivity can be adjusted to further reduce unneeded alerts, especially when you're not at risk. We've even changed the actual alert to a short double-tone when your vehicle is moving less than 20 mph.

What is the difference between the red and blue display?
There is no difference in the performance or features. Some customers prefer the brilliant blue display, and others prefer the traditional red display.
What is included with the ix?
The Passport 9500ix comes complete with a travel case, quick release window mount, coiled SmartCord®, owner's manual, a 90 day free trial period for weekly Defender updates, one year warranty and 30 day money back trial period.
What is AutoLearn?
Autolearn uses the GPS feature to identify sources of false radar and memorizes location and frequency of each radar signal. Our AutoLearn software then compares signals received over time and eliminates audio alerts for non-police sources. The display will identify that a signal is present but no audio alert will be sounded. If a new source of radar or laser appears in the area you will receive a full audio and visual alert.
Will AutoLearn block out true police signals?
No. The sophisticated software will prevent automatically blocking out true police signals.
What is the Defender database?
Defender is a database of North American red light and fixed speed camera locations that can be updated weekly from our site. After the 90 day trial period a subscription is required to keep the Passport's Defender database current. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
What is the USB port for?
The Passport 9500ix is web ready and the USB port can connect to a PC for software downloads and Defender updates.
Is it the most sensitive model available? vs. Redline, vs. X50, vs. iQ
The Redline is the most sensitive dash model available on the market but it does not have the GPS features of the Passport 9500ix. The Passport 8500 X50 Black, the Passport iQ and the Passport 9500ix have similar radar and laser performance, but again, the 8500 X50 does not include the GPS features. The Passport iQ combines radar/laser detection and a full GPS navigation system in one convenient model.
What is Variable Speed Sensitivity?
We recognize if you are driving at slower rates of speed that you do not need full sensitivity. The Passport 9500ix is able to increase sensitivity as your traveling speed increases.
Can it be used overseas?
We do not monitor frequencies used overseas, but many customers travel abroad with their PASSPORT.
How do you Mark a location?
To mark a particular location, press the "MRK" button. The display will read: "Mark?" Press the "MRK" button again to assign a label to it. There are four (4) labels: Red Light, Speed Camera, Speed Trap and Other. To scroll through the labels, simply press the volume (+) or (-) buttons until you reach the desired label. Once you've selected the label, press the "MRK" button again to confirm.
How do you block a false alert?
To lockout a false alert, (X, K or Laser only) press the mute button three (3) times, (either on the detector or the SmartCord®) during the alert. Pressing the mute button the first time will silence the audio. Pressing it a second time will generate a prompt on the display that will read: "Lockout?" Press it a third time to confirm that you want to lock this signal out by location and frequency. A "Stored" message will be displayed.
What is Expert Mode?
Expert Mode will show you up to 8 radar signals at the same time and will show relative signal strength and associated Band of each signal.
Where are they illegal?
Radar detectors are completely legal to use in non-commercial vehicles in 49 states. Virginia and Washington D.C. are the only places in the United States that currently ban radar detectors. Radar detector use in commercial vehicles has been prohibited in the U.S. since 1995 and radar detectors are also illegal in most Canadian provinces. We do not track detector regulations in other countries.
Do you pay for tickets?
Escort Inc. does not condone breaking posted speed limits and has never offered to reimburse speeding citations issued when using our products.
What is the warranty period?
All our products ordered factory direct come with a full one-year factory warranty. We also offer an Extended Service Plan on select models that will provide two additional years of warranty for $29.95.
I have GPS in my car. Why do I need it in my detector?
The GPS feature is not used for navigation. The Passport 9500ix allows you to Mark locations of interest, Block false radar and laser alerts, tracks vehicle speed in real-time, and allows sensitivity based on the vehicle speed.
Why do I have to pay for updates?
Due to the increasing use of red light and fixed speed cameras in the US, the locations and operation status of these devices change all the time. This database is collected from a number of sources. There is a very small annual charge for customers that want to keep the Defender database current for camera threats. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
What is the Defender Database memory capability in the 9500ix? Will it run out of space?
The Passport 9500ix has more than enough memory to hold all your locations as well as the camera locations used in the US.
