What is included with RedLine EX?
RedLine EX comes complete with a soft-sided zippered travel case, revolutionary new EZ Mag Mount™ windshield mount, 12-volt SmartCord® USB and quick reference guide. If you would like a more permanent installation for your RedLine EX, check out the DirectWire SmartCord® or the more basic DirectWire kit for hardwired installations.
What is AutoLearn?
Autolearn uses the GPS feature to identify sources of false radar and memorizes location and frequency of each radar signal. Our AutoLearn software then compares signals received over time and eliminates audio alerts for non-police sources. The display will identify that a signal is present but no audio alert will be sounded. If a new source of radar or laser appears in the area you will receive a full audio and visual alert.
Will AutoLearn block out true police signals?
No. The sophisticated software will prevent automatically blocking out true police signals.
What is the Defender database?
Defender is a database of North American red light and fixed speed camera locations that can be updated weekly from our site. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
Is RedLine EX the most sensitive model available?
When certain filtering and radar band segments are disabled, RedLine EX is the most sensitive windshield model available on the market. Only advanced users who know which radar frequencies are used in their area should attempt disabling radar band segments.
What is the USB port for?
The RedLine EX is web ready. The USB port connects to a computer for software downloads and Defender updates.
What is Variable Speed Sensitivity?
We recognize if you are driving at slower rates of speed that you do not need full sensitivity. In Auto sensitivity modes, RedLine EX increases sensitivity as your traveling speed increases.
Can it be used overseas?
Yes. RedLine EX includes radar bands used overseas including Strelka, Gatso and Multaradar.
How do you Mark a location?
To mark a particular location, press the "MRK" button. The display will read: "Mark?" Press the "MRK" button again to assign a label to it. There are four (4) labels: Red Light, Speed Camera, Speed Trap and Other. To scroll through the labels, simply press the volume (+) or (-) buttons until you reach the desired label. Once you've selected the label, press the "MRK" button again to confirm.
How do you block a false alert?
To lockout a false alert, (X, K or Laser only) press the mute button three (3) times, (either on the detector or the SmartCord®) during the alert. Pressing the mute button the first time will silence the audio. Pressing it a second time will generate a prompt on the display that will read: "Lockout?" Press it a third time to confirm that you want to lock this signal out by location and frequency. A "Stored" message will be displayed.
What is Expert Mode?
Expert Meter Mode will show you up to 4 radar signals at the same time with the band and signal strength for each signal.
Where are they illegal?
Radar detectors are completely legal to use in non-commercial vehicles in 49 states. Virginia and Washington D.C. are the only places in the United States that currently ban radar detectors. Radar detector use in commercial vehicles has been prohibited in the U.S. since 1995 and radar detectors are also illegal in most Canadian provinces. We do not track detector regulations in other countries.
What is the warranty period?
All our products ordered factory direct come with a full one-year factory warranty. We also offer an Extended Service Plan on select models that will provide two additional years of warranty for $29.95.
I have GPS in my car. Why do I need it in my detector?
The GPS feature is not used for navigation. RedLine EX allows you to Mark locations of interest, block false radar and laser alerts, track vehicle speed in real-time, and allows sensitivity to vary based on vehicle speed.
Why do I have to pay for updates?
Due to the increasing use of red light and fixed speed cameras in the US, the locations and operation status of these devices change all the time. This database is collected from a number of sources. There is a very small annual charge for customers that want to keep the Defender database current for camera threats. https://www.escortradar.com/store/software-subscription-accessories/
What is the database memory capacity? Will it run out of space?
RedLine EX has more than enough memory to hold all your locations.

well i have owned the old RL since 2012 , i watched all the hipe over the unidenR3 verses the RLex , well im down with long range so i purchased it , come to find out the what i noticed was the k band blocker or filtering out well it still alerted one time on the kband then it blocked it , not sure y they made it still alert but it just didnt seem right cheap made lite, not saying it didnt reach out in range but i also didnt see a real test with the new RLex segmented agaisnt the R3, although i did watch a test where the RLex constanly alerted later but never dropped out as the R3 alerted and dropped out almost to the same spot the RLex did so with that info seems to me they ran a very close race , i wasnt happy with the R3 opted for the new RLex, its very quiet now. I am hopeing for a longer range but its been good so far as for everyone wanting arrows please never put arrows on it, for the love of god if your not smart enough to know slow down when it goes off, arrows dont matter unless your a beginner, then opt for the 360. i dont care for the over speed warning on the screen , why would you put this on the display ? ppl have asked me is that the speed limit of the road we are on ? nope its a dumb option you have to set , that is the only drawbk of the display !!! so far ive been satisfied with it !!!! the 1st escort i saw when i was a kid was a anolog meter display in my neighbors dads truck and i asked him about it over 25 years ago, ive ran radar detectors since i was 16 im now 45 until the orginal redline came out i was getting tickets, they stoped in 2012 when i purchased it , all radar detectors did before the redline was tell you that you were busted , im a avivid speeder with over 300 tickets they stopped in 2012 i now have a clean driving record, ppl say you sholdnt be driving and i say im the most observant on the rd im highly alert and cautious of my surroundings and ive avoided alot of wrecks ! a avivd speeder is not fumbling around we look ahead !!!

I am very disappointed in this new Redline EX and its long range performance, I was under the impression it would be better than my Redline that I currently have, it is not. I went on a trip to Augusta, GA this past weekend and tested against the Uniden R3, and found the R3 has Awesome OFF Axis, the Redline EX does not. Distance wise, the Uniden blew the Redline EX out of the water, alerting sometimes 7 - 8 seconds after the Uniden R3. However, I am happy with the BSM, it was very quiet the entire trip, and the Uniden did chirp to some BSM encounters. Also, love the Bluetooth and GPS capabilities of the Redline EX, and hooked up with Escort Live, makes a pretty good detector. Bottom line is I was very disappointed in the overall long range performance of the Redline EX, I am hopeful that Escort will fix this issue, so for now I will hook my old Redline and run it with Escort Live to lockout the threats that aren't real. This is a good radar detector, I was not impressed, but this doesn't mean this detector is not for you. Order one, try it out and if it doesn't meet up to your standards then send it back, Escort is really great about honoring the 30 day return policy

Absolutely amazing

By Mr. Droid Turbo

from North Carolina

Comments about Escort REDLINE EX:

I have the second batch with 1.2 firmware. TSR off and is quite as a mouse with the cat at home. Laser detection blows me away. I have been hit with it. So far no false signals either. Rock solid quality. As of today I can't not find anything to complain about at all. Escort was my first detector in the 80's and I always thought they were the best. They have proven that to be true again. 2017

Comments about Escort REDLINE EX:

I received my Redline Ex during the second batch release (firmware 1.2). So far it has been very quite to BSM false's. Have had almost zero issues with Honda's (Acura), and a few new GMC (2 total since owning) products. Range seems to be good, however I do not have another detector to compare. I am running KA segmented with the usual recommended settings as posted on forums. My only complaint would be that I do receive Laser false's from time to time even though there is no police around. From what I have read through forums is that it could be cheap detectors that are around during the drive. But guessing at this point.

Better than the original Redline

By Speed Racer

from Somewhere in Virginia

Comments about Escort REDLINE EX:

I used my Redline for three wonderful years; bandmod and other filter adjustments made it perfect for my needs. I ordered the Redline EX as soon as I could; I have about two months of use on it. With the below settings, it's working as good, if not better than my orginal Redline:

Highway mode
TSR ON
Ka OFF with segments 2/5/8 ON
K band OFF
X band OFF
Spec Mode
RDR OFF
GPS ON

Service and delivery comments:

Service, as usual, was perfect. Delivered on time, in great condition. Buy your detector directly from Escort, not a reseller - they've been great to me.

Redline EX is pretty much comparable to my Redline.

By Tillamook

from Pacific Northwest

Comments about Escort REDLINE EX:

My experience with the Redline EX makes me question the motives of those writing the negative reviews.

Compared to my Redline I'd say the off-axis K-band is a bit better on my Redline EX. Locally there's a "Barney Fife" type cop running constant on K-band who hides in the same spot every now and then, I'd say the Redline EX goes off just a hair earlier than my Redline.

As far as KA, when I'm traveling on I-5, I'd the Redline EX seems to sometimes alert a second or two later than my Redline did, other times pretty much the same.

All in all, by my experience, I'd say the performance of my Redline EX is pretty much comparable to my Redline.

Love the new style magnetic mount and the feel of the Redline EX in my hand.

I would buy again.

Total Garbage, what the purpose of this detector?

By RD Fanatic

from Greensboro NC

Comments about Escort REDLINE EX:

Have the original redline, and the Uniden R3 and just received my EX. The EX is garbage. Uniden R3 spanks the EX in all categories especially in range. The original Redline also kills the EX when it comes to range. I don't know why escort released this very expensive detector, it has no purpose whatsoever. Finally still needs to be segmented like the original Redline unlike the Uniden R3 which is plugin and drive.

Better range than Redline!

By Fast Eddy

from WI

Comments about Escort REDLINE EX:

Just received mine and took it out for a test next to my previous redline. On a set K band speed radar the EX smoked my old detector by 1/8 mile!! Freedom from in car radar is absolute thus far, neither Honda nor GM seem to affect it. For the short test around my small town it seems the promises were kept. Im running it with X band completely off.
