This is one of the best things you can buy for your radar detector! I did not like having the cord running from the cigarette lighter to the radar detector and this made direct wiring right into my fuse box very simple and easy. The install is now neat and organized with no visible wires hanging around my dash to get in the way when I am driving.

Plus, I did not have to sacrifice any of the SmartCord capabilities by moving over to the direct wire install. I can still have the mute button right near all the controls on my dash to quickly silence the unit when it is sounding an alert. I did install this myself but if you have any doubts about working under your dash lots of places will install it for you for next to nothing since it is such as breeze.

Just installed this on top of my bike's (Ducati 1098S)dash. I have the Escort 8500 X50 blue on the bike. I get my alarms via a HARD system (wireless transmitter/receiver with a red LED installed in the helmet) and with this Smart Cord I can see the warnings right by the dash as well. While the HARD system 's receiver is battery powered, this Smart Cord is wired to the bike's battery and will never run out of juice so I will always have a warning from the detector either way. Easy install as well.
